Seminar on e-Commerce held in Pirot

The first educational seminar for small businesses “e-Commerce – a chance you should not miss” was held in Contracting Chamber of Economy Pirot District on February 20.

Experts from both private and public sector shared their experiences and knowledge of all aspects of e-commerce, while more than 30 various-sized businesses came to hear about all the ways e-commerce could help their growth and why it is a chance they should not miss. Numerous media representatives were also present.

USAID Cooperation for Growth Project organized the workshop in cooperation with Contracting Chamber of Economy Pirot District, as well as Serbian National Internet Domain Registry (RNIDS), e-Commerce Association of Serbia and DHL International.

Dragan Kostic, president of the Contracting Chamber of Economy Pirot District, made the introductory speech. Predrag Milicevic (RNIDS) talked about the adequate internet presence of a business, while Marko Ilić, Board member at e-Commerce Asocijacije Srbije, provide participants with useful pieces of advice regarding web shop, its creation and implementation. Milos Radulovic, Board member at e-Commerce Asocijacije Srbije spoke about payments and banking services in e-commerce. Ivan Beljić (DHL International) offered some important answers to questions of transports, exports, customs and distribution of online sold products. Presentations was followed by a Q&A session and informal networking part of the event.

Entrepreneurs from Pirot and the area showed great interest and understanding of the value of e-commerce as a tool for business growth and improvement, while this concept of an educational gathering has proven to be very useful. The next seminar on the same topic is scheduled for March 25 in Belgrade.

We are continuing work on building a supportive ecommerce ecosystem in Serbia, which will allow SMEs to push through regulatory and administrative barriers and enter other local, regional and global markets.
